Sometimes it’s nice to mix things up within your hardscape design. There are plenty of ways you can express your creativity and craft something truly magnificent to enjoy. The following are some of our favorite ways to create the unexpected touches that will make your landscape and handscape really stand out.
- Create contrast. By juxtaposing large items beside small items, you create a visual comparison. This works best when you pick items that have similar compositions, such as a large round stone set beside a small round stone.
- Foster a reaction. Eww and awe visitors by creating scenes that delight the eyes. Picture perfect floral arrangements set within raised flower beds are a wonderful way to facilitate this effect.
- Captivate the imagination. This is done by building anticipation. It can be achieved by including a redwood stairwell into a sunken garden or crafting a rounded stone path into a hidden patio.
- Sprinkle in color. From the base palette of green and grey, create focal points by using colorful blooms, colored stones, and richly colored wood that stands out from the background.
