Oil clean up doesn’t have to be a messy affair. Whether you are dealing with new oil spills, or oil that has been sitting for a while, here are some slick ideas you might want to think about trying.
First, don’t try and scrub it out. This can spread the stain and make it larger. Small spills can be sprinkled with baby powder, talcum powder, or even cat litter. Once the spill is covered, let it soak up for a day, then sweep the powder away. Any remaining residue should be blotted with a paper towel.
After you get the excess oil absorbed, apply a generous amount of grease-cutting dish soap or laundry detergent. Scrub the stain using hot water and repeat as many times as necessary to completely remove the oil. At this point, you can also use a high-powered water sprayer, just be careful to maintain the appropriate operating distance so that you don’t etch the concrete.
