The coping you use on your pool can drastically change the way your pool looks and feels. Here is a handy guide to help you decide what type of coping you should use for your new pool.
Just in case you aren’t familiar with what exactly pool coping is, it is the edging of your pool. The coping blends the look of your deck with the material of your pools lining.
There are four basic types of coping to choose from:
- Rough Cut Coping – Rough cut provides a more natural look to your pool. Rough cut coping provides a textured look to the rim of your pool, and it is usually made of stone pavers.
- Bull Nose Coping – This type of coping provides greater flexibility than Rough cut. It can be made from any type of material, and it is probably the most recognizable type of coping for your pool.
- Cantilever Coping – This type offers a more modern look to your pool. Cantilever coping’s primary characteristic is that the deck hangs over the pool slightly. The overhang makes your deck look a bit bigger than it actually is.
- Rolled Edge Coping – This is the type of coping found around more athletic focused pools. It provides an area for swimmers to grab when waiting at the edge of the pool.
