Summer is in full swing! You’re spending more and more time outdoors entertaining, and while you probably have a grill, outdoor furniture and perhaps even an old cooler, wouldn’t it be awesome to have a fabulous outdoor kitchen?
After deciding the best location for your kitchen the next step is setting your budget. If you are living in your “forever home” consider installing the basics first: cabinetry, countertops and lighting. A more elaborate grill, heavy duty dishwasher, even a pizza oven can always be added at a later date.
Then using furniture you already own, stage the area to insure you have the necessary space. Most designers suggest including five zones: wet, dry, hot, cold and obviously a space for entertaining. Pay close attention to accessibility to both water and electrical. The easier to hook these necessities up, the bigger the savings.
And finally don’t forget to update your homeowner’s insurance! Many policies will already cover your new kitchen if it is in some way attached to your permanent home.
