The weather is getting chillier and the leaves are beginning to fall. As you begin the process of winterizing your landscape, don’t forget about these important pool cleaning tips:
- Point your jets towards the sides so they create a circular motion that directs the leaves right into the basket of your skimmer.
- For leaves that have settled, use a vacuum to suck them up before you cover the pool. Don’t allow them stay there over the winter as they may leave a stain as they decompose.
- Check your lining and masonry. If you have cracks or chips, you’ll want to take care of these before the winter sets in. Freezing temperatures can turn minor repairs into major headaches in the spring.
- Balance your water. Make sure you have the right chlorine, alkalinity, and algaecide levels within the water.
- Cover your pool immediately once you get your pool cleaned and free of both leaves and other debris. Don’t delay performing this important task..and don’t forget to remove all your pool accessories beforehand.
