A rain barrel is a landscape feature that is often overlooked, but it’s one that provides another eco-friendly element to your property since you can collect rainwater and use it to water your plants. The following are a few ways you can use a rain barrel.
- Make it stand out – Invest in a rain barrel that has aesthetic appeal and show it off as a landscape feature. You could even turn it into a fountain of sorts by installing a scrollwork spigot to a downspout and then adding a hose to the bottom of the pot you’re using as a rain barrel.
- Make it blend in – If you don’t like the idea of your rain barrel being showcased as a feature, then you can try to hide it. This can be as simple as tucking the barrel in a corner and surrounding it by bushes and plants. Or you can set it up against the side of your shed or house and use the same siding as the wall it’s sitting against to blend it into the background.
