When planning out your pool for the backyard, it’s crucial to consider how it’s going to be finished once installed. There are a lot of surfacing options available, from a classic white cement finish to multi-colored textured pebble finishes. Each have different properties, so consider the following when deciding what’s best for your project:
- Classic white plaster is a popular finish, creating a clean look for your pool. Smooth to the touch, white plaster can make your pool elegant and inviting. This type of surface is one of the most affordable, and is fairly easy to maintain with a life expectancy of 6-8 years.
- River Rok Exposed Aggregate is a pebble surface that answers a lot of problems posed by pool surfacing. Pebble surfacing has risen in popularity recently, comes in a large range of colors, and is chemically inert: in other words, it won’t react with the water in the pool. River Rok costs more, but has a life expectancy of 8-10 years.
- Diamond-Brite Quartz is an aggregate surfacing option that looks great against white backgrounds. The Diamond-Brite Quartz is basically a “very specialized form of ceramic-coated sand” and comes in multiple color options. The life expectancy is 7-9 years with a 3 year warranty.
