Choosing your pool’s surface can be determined by many factors. One such factor is how often it needs to be resurfaced. Each surface has its own share of pros and cons.
Tile can be an expensive way to tile your pool in the short term. It takes a lot more time and labor to install than the other surface types, but with proper maintenance, a tile surface can last far longer than any of the others. You still need to clean a tile surface, and occasionally regrout, but in the long term, it may be a cheaper option.
Fiberglass looks good and is easy to maintain. It can last for many years if properly maintained, but the color can fade easily, and if damaged it is not easily replaced.
Plaster pools are extremely common, but they require a good bit of maintenance to keep them in top shape. A poorly maintained plaster surface could only last a couple years, and a well maintained one could last for 20. They are cheap to install, but the amount of work you put into it will determine its lifespan.
